Quote of the Day

Many doctors, at great cost to both themselves and their patients, see pain as merely a symptom, a means to formulate a biomedical diagnosis rather than an end or a focus in itself. I have repeatedly emphasized that pain is an experience; it is an experience of feeling unpleasant sensations from our body, which are interpreted by multiple areas of the brain, areas that are responsible not just for registering sensation but for the way we think and feel.
